No we can’t really afford it, no it does not really fit with our new ‘rustic’ lifestyle and no it certainly does not go with anything else in kitchen, but it was meant to be.
Jamie has been after a proper mixer for ages, 3 years of kneading bread by hand has apparently worn away his knuckles…anyway we spotted a KitchenAid on the internet that was quite cheap but still not in our budget so we decided to sit on it for a while, you know the advice – ‘see something you want to buy, think about it for 10 days, then see if you still want it’. Yesterday was Day 8 and we were still wanting one, we do need one for our Bakery business you understand. Jamie went to town to buy some winter tires and there in the GARAGE were boxes of KitchenAids!! He got a good deal (and wrong size tires…)
Jamie made amazing bread today and I made an equally amazing fish chowder to go with it. Its a really simple recipe that I kinda made up:
Ingredients: 2 white fish fillets, haddock is good. 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed. 1 onion, roughly sliced. Handful of sweetcorn and peas. Chopped curly parsley. Enough milk to cover the fish and a cup of water. Salt and pepper
Put the fish and onion into a large saucepan and cover with the milk and water. Heat gently until fish is cooked and flaky. In another saucepan cook the potatoes until just about done, mash 1/3 and add all potato to the fish. Continue to simmer gently for about 10mins. Add in the peas, sweetcorn, parsley, salt and pepper. Serve.
Easy, Evan loved it. If you want it thicker you can simmer it for longer or add more mashed potato, or cream instead of milk.
Mum, feedback please!
